One street, one practice
Dioptre Opticians has tested eyes on Carver Street since 1987. Still independent, still family run, still with a workshop at the back.
Book an eye exam
We would rather explain a prescription than sell a second pair. We stock frames we can repair, and we take the time an eye exam needs.
Thirty-nine years
- 1987
Arthur Calloway opens a two-room practice at 14 Carver Street.

A workshop at the back: frames are glazed and repaired in the practice.
- 2012
Ines Calloway takes over and stops stocking the big brands.
- 2021
An OCT scanner, so every patient's retina can be compared year to year.
